Introducing Red’s New Menu

Today, we are excited to introduce our new menu for the spring and summer 2015 season! Our Executive Chef Daniel Kenney and his culinary team have been hard at work creating and testing recipes that are bound to become family favorites this season. The goal of this menu is to showcase the freshest produce, grass-fed beef, local cheeses, and nearby seafood in the simplest ways. Our chefs have achieved incredibly flavorful recipes that we are sure you will enjoy! Start with our Chili & Soy Marinated Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi served with seaweed salad, cucumber carpaccio, and a black sesame tahini. The flavors are inspired by the clean ingredients and techniques of the Far East, with a hint of Middle Eastern influence from the tahini.

While you’re visiting Cape Cod, you cannot leave without tasting our local oysters. Shucked to order, these are the most delicious oysters you’ll ever taste. Our oysters are sourced from various local oyster farmers throughout Cape and Islands.

Craving a light lunch, our Baby Iceberg “Wedge Salad” is the perfect option! Still hearty enough to fill you up, this salad is extra special as our chefs use Great Hill Blue Cheese, a cheese made at a dairy farm on Buzzard’s Bay just 30 minutes from our hotel! Paired with smoked bacon, red onion, and ripe tomatoes, it’s a salad you’ll love!

If you’re a meat lover, you must order one of our steaks! Hand-cut steaks sourced form local family farms in the Northeast, the cattle are raised without any growth hormones and graze on fresh grass and hay. These are some of the best steaks you’ll ever taste, cooked to your liking and served with potatoes, asparagus, and tomatoes.

Come in with the family and enjoy a pizza night, without the hard work! We’ll make your pizza to order, rolling and tossing the dough, layering the perfect ingredients, and baking it in our brick oven. Our Red’s Margherita Pizza focuses on the amazing flavors of fresh mozzarella, garden basil, virgin olive oil, and grans padano cheese – it’s a taste of Italy on Cape Cod!

Be sure to save room for dessert. Our new dessert menu is packed with goodies like these Baby Ice Cream Sandwiches! Double chocolate, vanilla chocolate chip, and summer berry ice creams are sandwiched between two buttery shortbread cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate shortbread! The perfect sweet ending to any meal.

2015 April School Vacation

April School Vacation took place last week and we entertained kids for an entire week of fun!

This year we had a jam-packed schedule of events for children of all ages for their April School Vacation week that just passed – the hotel rate included daily activities such as live entertainment, board games, arts & crafts and more!

Our staff was excited to entertain your children with arts & crafts, along with professional entertainers, Magician Evan Northup and Mike the Bubble Man.

Whether with bubbles or magic, the kids had so much fun interacting with the shows – even the parents watching were laughing and giggling!

One of the most popular and favorite of the kids was the “Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundae” event, where kids of all ages had a chance to sprinkle, drizzle, and scoop their favorite ice cream flavors and toppings! The creations were unbelievable – the children had great imagination playing around with the toppings.

Supporting the West Falmouth Library

This past January 22nd we had the pleasure to present the West Falmouth Library with a check to aid in their library needs. This check, for the amount of $2,000, was sourced from proceeds of our New Year’s Eve Party at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel.  Our very own Clark GuinnRegional Director of Operations of Scout Hotels, hand delivered the check to the library on a sunny January day.

The vision of the West Falmouth Library is: “A thriving library that is an integral part of the lives of the community” – and one we agree with 100%. Talking to Clark as we walked into the library, you could sense that books meant the world to him and as Regional Director of Operations for Scout Hotels, he wanted to make sure that the Sea Crest Beach Hotel was giving back and supporting its local community.

The West Falmouth Library’s focus of mission is rooted in its history as a local library and community meeting place in the village of West Falmouth. Throughout its history it has served the village and the greater Falmouth community with library services and educational, informational and entertaining events. We are so very proud to have this outstanding library in our area, for it not only provides books to individuals, but a personal sanctuary to those in need of peace and quiet.

Clark spoke fondly of books, remembering how in the past books would always elevate his mood, create an escape for when times were tough, or just guided him during personal times. A man that reads countless books a year, Clark talked about how he has educated his children and family on the importance of reading and making time to read, no matter how busy you are. Because we know that next to the word “busy” in the dictionary, Mr. Guinn’s photo is shown, thus his stance on making time to read, no matter what.

Massachusetts Lobstermen Weekend

This past weekend we were host to the  Massachusetts Lobstermen’s Association’s 2015 Annual Weekend and Industry Trade Show and it was a fantastic success!

A little background information on this association: The Massachusetts Lobstermen’s Association is a member-driven organization that accepts and supports the interdependence of species conservation and the members’ collective economic interests.

The Massachusetts Lobstermen’s Association was established in 1963 by the fishermen, for the fishermen, and is presently the leading commercial fishing industry association in New England. On behalf of the 1,700 members, the MLA works to maintain both the industry and the resource. The MLA strives to be proactive on issues affecting the lobster industry and is active in the management process at both the state and federal levels.

Our Executive Chef Dan Kenney executed a delicious lobster cooking demo, where our guests had a chance to ask questions about how to cook the best lobster, as well as other seafood techniques.

His recipe for lobster risotto with shaved winter asparagus salad and warm lobster vinaigrette can be found below – it’s a recipe that takes a bit of time, but is well worth the effort!
