The view was breathtaking from the windows of the Ocean Room at the Sea Crest Beach Hotels for the 6th International Oyster Symposium, Grand Tasting event. Described simply as a “Gastronomic Celebration of Oysters.”
Oyster enthusiasts came from all over the world for the event, including the oysters!
The oysters were the star of the show with such flavors as cape cods, Vers’ prosecco foam and sweet gelee (Above) or Pan D’avignon’s Oyster Stew, and our own Red’s Restaurant & Lounge fried oyster tacos.
Our sister property on Martha’s Vineyard, the Harbor View Hotel showcased their island local Honeysuckle Oysters sous vide and pickled with pork belly, brioche crumbles, radish, and American trout roe.
Included in your ticket price was a glass of champagne which paired ever so nicely with the oysters (Below.)
Brittish Sculptor Andrew Nichhols displayed his 1/8th size model of his Giant Oyster Sculpture lined up next to a large line of raffle entries.
The group discussed the importance of oysters to our environment and the nutrients they hold for us when consuming them. So not only are they delicious but they are good for you too!
Large paintings of oysters in all their glory were found throughout the room (Above.)
While enjoying each expression of the oyster guests could also enjoy LIVE music from Fred Clayton Jazz Trio (Below) and if that wasn’t enough the Cape Cod Beer company brought tastings of all their varieties of beer.
The night ended just as it had began with a brilliant view over Old Silver Beach!
